What will it take to restore my credit and get ahead financially?
As an economist and a guy that really follows statistical leading indicators, I felt compelled to write this article. I have helped thousands of families save their homes and settled billions of dollars in debt for my clients. I worked in the legal collection industry from 1988 to 2000 ~ for large mortgage banks and a very large collection law firm in The Chicago Financial District. From 2000 to present I have defended the debtor & home owner….primarily tearing down the validity of debt per the FDCPA and forcing the bill collector to cooperate. I was trained by the best of the best. I have thrived in an aggressive “gladiator like” business arena for my entire career. The one that I can say is that the entire world has changed over the last 6 years. The easy days disappeared into the rear view mirror in 2007. When the bond market blew up in the summer of 2007, it triggered a whole series of events. Declining home values & frozen credit markets were main events…..however, what about the labor market? High unemployment soon followed and the labor market changed forever. Forever is a tough word to use….everybody wants to go back to the easy days…40 your work weeks, overpaid salaries, light work schedules…yep, those days are gone. I can’t begin to tell you how many people I see struggle to get ahead daily. They have been brainwashed to think that the Federal Government will get them out debt, save their home & move them to a richer plateau. Frustration, resentment & stress normally set in for folks who take this path. The economy is expanding, people are making more money & more people are being left behind. Nearly 83 million people have serious credit problems….every day is a struggle for them. Lack of money & lack of credit are brutal way to start the day. I have always advised all of my clients to take the extra steps to earn extra money…it all adds up & really goes a long way. The extra hours at work, a second job, weekend work…..it all works well. The extra money and aggressive financial consulting is the path to credit redemption and restoration. I have always advised clients that their problems did not evolve overnight & they won’t be solved overnight either.
